Finish Work and Septic

We're on to the finish work!

Almost all the doors are hung and they are working on the baseboard.
Railing is up and trim on edge of stairs is in.
I have to show off my work...I painted the floor of the two storage rooms in the basement with garage floor paint. Neither room has windows since they are on the back side of the house, so they won't be used for much besides storage and hopefully having a lighter floor color won't make the rooms *quite* as scary. It turned out very nice, if I do say so myself!

They started installing the septic system today.

This will be the lovely view out of Chris' office window! Just kidding! It will be covered and I will put in some plants to make it look much nicer for him!
That's a lot of tank!
More rock ?!?!?!
I learned today the MacGyver LOVES his new house!! We pretty much already new this, but he hung out with me for a good 4 hours today while I did work around the house and cleaned up. He explored the whole time! Some of you wouldn't believe that he had that much energy. And, when I said it was time to go home, he wouldn't get in the car! I'm so glad he's going to love his new home! He, of course, like any good dog would do, found a dead mouse and proceeded to roll around in it for about 5 minutes - every time I tried to get video he'd stop (of course!).

Interior Paint

The interior is all painted!

Great room.
Kitchen with the entry way on right. Pantry and laundry room are through door in middle of picture.
Basement - guest room is on the other side of the wall. (Well, future guest room. This will be the guest room once we have 2 kids. The guest room will be upstairs until then!)

Basement from other side - Chris' office will be on the other side of this wall (and back a little - this wall sticks out and the office is recessed (is that how you'd describe it??))(Future) Guest room

Blue Angels

Mel and James' friend took me, mom and dad out to watch the Blue Angels practice today. This weekend is SeaFair and they put on a full show over Lake Washington before the hydroplane races on Sunday, but practice for 3 days leading up to it. It was cloudy today, so we got to see the "low" show - not too much of that straight up climbing and full "g"s, but a lot of low flying right off the water. It was awesome! You could see the pilots in the cockpit as the zoomed by in front of you!

Yes - he is as low as he looks in this picture!

It was hard to get a good picture, but there were a lot of boats out watching!
They close the I-90 bridge and some of the water space around it as private air space. These barges cruised around and made sure people stayed far enough back.

Siding and Doors

They started the siding on the house!
In the back, he had only gotten to framing out the windows...
Interior doors are delivered and ready to be hung once the house is painted.

Drywall Taping

All the drywall is hung and taped over the seams! Word on the street is that we are going to be painting the house by Friday (please don't ask about picking a color!!). Grandma Dorothy came for a visit today - she gave her approval, so we're all good there! She especially liked the room for the nursery! :)

They wasted no time - they already started hanging the drywall!

They also started on the siding - it starts with some moisture protection paper. They will be hanging the siding over it next week!

Insulation and Septic

Insulation got installed and passed inspection! We're on to the drywall.

The area for the drainfield got cleared - luckily they were able to use an area that the previous owners had logged several years ago and was covered in blackberries and other thorny weeds. So, we didn't have to take down any trees and we got someone to pull the weeds quick and free. (Just in case dad actually reads this: Dad, I know, it wasn't free, but they were going to be doing the work somewhere, so I'll say the pulling weeds part was free!) They have to take down a few trees in the far distance to put in the septic system, but hopefully not too many.

All Cleaned Up

I cleaned up the mess from everything that has been going on to prepare for the insulation and drywall! It looks so good now - I am so proud of myself! :)

Our plumbing passed inspection on Thursday, we had two minor fixes for the electrical and it should be re-inspected and passed tomorrow. Our framing inspection is also tomorrow.

The water main we had to extend is in place and we passed our purity test, so we are able to connect the house to water...finally!

Within the next week, we will also have our septic system installed!

Roof

At some point between Saturday late afternoon when we were at the house and this morning, we got a roof (seems like the only time of the week I wouldn't expect to see ANYONE out there!!).
It was a BUSY day out at the house today!
Roofer, cabinet man, electrician, heating guy, septic guy, water line guys and can't be seen: general contractor dad, framer and plumber! Somehow they were all getting work done and not stepping on each other TOO much!

Water, Plumbing, Heat, Windows, Oh My!

So much going on!

Framing is just about finished - got the trim around the edges of the roof. Roofing goes on this weekend!
Work started on getting our water line installed - we had to bring up the main line 350 feet through the east side of the property. It has created a great trail to get down the side of the property and out the back. There are more residential roads on the back/north side of the property that will be more fun to walk MacGyver on so this should help us get there!

View of the back side of the house coming up from where the water line is.
Heating is getting installed.
Heating vents.
Windows! These are the ones in the great room - they are great and so big!
Windows in master bedroom (only 1 installed so far).
The rest of the windows to be installed.
All the showers/tubs are installed and initial plumbing is complete.
Downstairs shower/tub for guest room.
Kids bathroom.
Master bath.
We aren't near a fire hydrant, so we have to have a sprinkler system throughout the house.
